Diana Wallis, the Liberal Democrat MEP for Yorkshire & the Humber, recently visited the award-winning Spa in Bridlington. Diana Wallis she met the Spa's Duty Officer, Phil Shaw-Groves, who gave her a tour of the building.
The Spa has been refurbished in part through the use of EU money through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The Duty Manager will give you a tour.
"I am delighted to see what a fantastic facility the Spa has become. I see why it has become the envy of many other resorts not just in Yorkshire but across the rest of Europe too."
After the visit to the Spa building Diana Wallis then took in a visit to the harbour where redevelopment has stalled.
Later Diana Wallis visited Environmental and Recycling Training Hub Ltd (EARTH) at the Earth Centre on Easton Road.
EARTH have a commitment to assist those with disabilities and those who are disengaged from society to regain and renew their positive contribution to society and the community in which they live. EARTH's objectives are to encourage recycling, encourage understanding of the environment and culture, combat exclusion and create community cohesion through developing creative opportunities and to provide services that enable the disabled, disadvantaged and disengaged to benefit socially and educationally.
Diana Wallis MEP said after her visit:
"I think the work being done at the Earth Centre is excellent. As a way of getting people otherwise disengaged from society to make a valuable contribution and gain self-confidence there is no better scheme locally in my opinion."
